A Travellerspoint blog

Preparation!

T-2months to departure

So this post marks a couple of first, mainly my first ever blog post, and secondly brings us well within 2 months to departure.

This one will be be intentionally short, just as I find my feet and see how the whole blog thing works.

So departure is all set for 15th March, with our first 3 nights booked in a small campsite on the French/Belgian border.

The first month or so is likely to see us following the majority of the cycle classic race programme which will take us around northern France & Belgium with a mixture of formal campsite, our first aire experiences along with some roadside parking. Much of this will be weather dependant though as neither of us want to spend too many days and nights "listening to the rhythm of the pouring rain", which is nowhere near as romantic as that song makes it sound! We are also hoping to make a few visits to the parts of Belgium where our grandfathers spent time during the war. In particular, we hope to find the farm and bridge that my maternal grandfather, known to us all as Fred, spent one Christmas. Family farms being what they can be, we are hoping we might even be able to thank their relatives personally for making a hard Christmas, somewhat better.

In other news, it's all systems go on the house now as Jase works hard on getting things ship shape ready for the letting on 16th March.

Short and sweet for now, happy to receive feedback on content, focus etc.

Roll on 15th March

Jen & Jase
