Reflections!
Taking list making to a whole new level!
11.03.2018
So, it's the Sunday before #Jexit goes live for real, or T-4 days - with the house looking increasingly empty, we've decided to leave a day early and will be Canterbury bound on Wednesday 14th March, ready for our Tunnel on Thursday.
Since my last post, there has been much activity, mostly centred around prepping the van and clearing the house. As I write this, it feels like a good time for a bit of reflection, before we look ahead to the biggest adventure of our lives.
It's been just over 2 weeks since I left work, and was given a lovely send of by my work colleagues - plenty of cards, well wishes and bottles of Prosecco!
I think I just about managed to get through 2 leaving events, and a couple of speeches without any tears, although I was truly touched by some of the comments.
Over the last couple of weeks, it has become really clear just how beneficial it was having Jase leave work at Christmas, there has been so much to do, and I don't think I realised that as I was heading up the M5 day in, day out! But since I've been part of the prep crew I've found more dust than I care to admit to (who really hoovers under their bed regularly?!) and found myself painting the inside of a wardrobe - all in the vain attempt not to give our tenants anything to grumble about.
In amongst all the clearing, cleaning and tip visiting, we have also found time to spend with friends and family before we leave. Much of this was great fun, but tinged with sadness. I know social media will keep us in touch easier these days than if we'd been going 20 years ago, but equally I know Facetiming my best mate, family or nephews won't be quite the same as being together properly.
On a more romantic note, 7th March 2018 marked 22 years since Jase and I first met (in a nasty boozer as it happens!), and reflecting forward to our next chapter is exciting and a touch scary - will we ever run out of things to say to each other?! There is more than a small part of me that is nervous & apprehensive, but the best often comes when we find ourselves outside our comfort zone. To that end, I have 2 nuggets of wisdom that I will start the trip with:
"Morning is wiser than the evening" - to be remembered each time we find a less than salubrious place to stay!
"Attitude is the difference between an ordeal and an adventure"
So, with Jase out on his last cycle ride with his riding buddy, and a house to spring clean, I will say farewell for now - the next post will come from "the other side" I guess. My aim is to do something every week if Wi-Fi and time allows - thanks to Motorhome Wi-Fi for making that possible.
